1. Introduction A Hydropower Plant Switchyard is an outdoor electrical installation that receives electrical power generated by the generators in the powerhouse, transforms it to the required transmission voltage, and safely connects the power plant to the national transmission grid. The switchyard acts as the interface between the generating station and the transmission network. It performs switching, protection, measurement, isolation, voltage transformation, and fault-clearing operations to ensure reliable power delivery. For a large hydropower project such as Dasu Hydropower Project, the switchyard is one of the most critical parts of the electrical system because any failure can interrupt power generation and affect grid stability.
